Get the holiday shopping season going my supporting local artists and enjoy a festive concert to set the mood. The Sonoma Community Center will host its annual Holiday Art Sale for two days beginning Friday, Nov. 30.
The sale will lead into the center’s holiday musical revue, the Fabulous Follies, on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Perfect for holiday gift-giving, the Holiday Art Sale includes pottery, prints, textiles and many more mediums, all made by Sonoma Community Center members, instructors and professional artists. The sale doubles as an annual fundraiser for the center’s arts education programs. Because a portion of proceeds are returned to the center, holiday shoppers can support the community center, as well as local artists with their holiday gift giving.
The Holiday Art Sale will be open Friday, Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This year, SCC is offering extended hours on Saturday to accommodate incoming guests at the Follies.
The Fabulous Follies Revue: a Naughty and Nice Holiday All-Star Spectacular will be held in Andrews Hall Saturday, Dec. 1. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., guests will be welcomed into the winter wonderland by a bevy of beautiful young women wearing outlandish costumes, where they can sip on a “Santa’s Whiskers” cocktail. The curtains will open and the spotlight will shine on an all-star list of local singers and dancers. Set to perform are the center’s Free Spirits Gospel Choir, the Hot Flashes, and performances by Monica McKey, Jeanne McPherson, Jamie Love, Jennifer Wood, Will Shonbrun, Michael Lockhert and Mark Dennis, to name a few. Singer Cynthia Tarr will be the mistress of ceremonies.
Tickets for the Follies show are $25, available through the Sonoma Valley Box office at 938-4626, ext. 1, or online at sonomacommunitycenter.org.
