After leading the Sonoma Valley High School varsity baseball boys’ team to the Sonoma County League title, followed by winning a pair of North Coast Section Division-3 games before being edged by top-seed Acalanes in an NCS semifinal in May, four Dragons and their head coach recently garnered more honors.
Named to the large-schools All-Empire first-team were Sonoma’s senior pitcher Michael Hernandez, senior third-baseman Christopher Swanson, and junior first-baseman Jonah Son, with sophomore shortstop Dan Deely being a third-team pick.
All four Dragons were also SCL all-league first-team selections.
Receiving the All-Empire coach of the year award was Sonoma’s head coach, Don Lyons, who also was the SCL’s coach of the year.
