Write reps to keep Jack London park open

May 16, 2011 - 03:02 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Sacramento just came out with another list of the state parks and historic sites they want to close to save money, and one of the treasures of the Sonoma Valley is on it: Jack London State Historic Park.

This short-sighted attempt at fiscal responsibility threatens our cultural heritage, as well as our own prosperity. Thousands of people come to Sonoma every year and most of them end up at Jack London's home. These people pay homage to one of America's greatest writers - the pride of the Valley of the Moon - and also contribute to the local economy.

Please write our state representatives and tell them to keep the park open, and to keep Jack London's memory alive for future generations.
