Winter’s here, Dragons’ sports-wise, that is
Open field
I know the recent mid-autumn weather has been warm, which made for a dry and fun Halloween weekend, but winter is actually almost here for Sonoma Valley High School, sports-wise that is.
As the Dragons wrap up their fall athletic seasons – with two weeks of regular-season football left and other Dragon fall sports teams starting postseason play – Sonoma’s winter sports programs will begin their preseason workouts for the 2011-12 campaigns this Monday, Nov. 7.
So students who want to participate in Sonoma’s winter sports of basketball and wrestling need to have all their paperwork and mandatory current physical examinations completed before the official opening of preseason practices for that sport. Forms and paperwork are available at the SVHS student activities office Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
For now I’ll see you at the soccer pitch, volleyball and tennis courts, cross-country courses and the grid-iron. But, before long, I’ll catch you for some hoops and grappling action.
Ciao!
