Wine Country Wrestling’s Kruljac, Sherwood claim gold
Two members of the Valley’s Wine Country Wrestling, Mason Kruljac, 10, and Ryan Sherwood, 9 – students at Sonoma’s Prestwood Elementary School – turned in gold-winning efforts at a recent youth tournament in Rincon Valley hosted by Maria Carrillo High School and the USA Coastal Mountain Wrestling Association.
Competing in both the novice and upper-age-group school-boy brackets, Kruljac claimed two gold medals with a overall 5-0 record, which included four pin-wins and one technical-fall victory.
Wrestling in the intermediate division, Sherwood pinned two opponents and beat another by way of a technical fall en route to capturing his gold medal.
Wine Country Wrestling, under the direction of Marty Clein, holds its workouts out from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays in Sonoma Valley High School’s wrestling room, and boys or girls ages 4-to-14 interested in joining, or for more information, can visit www.winecountrywrestling.com, or call Clein at 938-3858.
