Weekend baseball equipment drive for BGCSV, adult tennis tonight, Sonoma Aquatic Club water polo

THE INAUGURAL BASEBALL Equipment Drive – with the donated equipment being distributed to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley – will take place from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 13, and Sunday, Aug. 14, at Hughes Field next to Depot Park. Anyone interested in donating can drop off bats, baseballs, gloves, cleats, bat-bags or catchers gear in front of the Hughes Field snack bar each weekend morning. SONOMA VALLEY TENNIS Association will hold its next Friday Night Round Robin event tonight at the Maxwell Farms Regional Park courts, with a 20 SVTA-member/player limit. For times, costs, to pre-register or for more details, e-mail Corky Rosengren at crosedan1032@aol.com.

 

SONOMA AQUATIC CLUB (formerly Agua Caliente Aquatic Center) is still registering for its summer swim programs for ages 3-months-old to adults at the SAC site, 17350 Vailetti Drive. The programs include swim lessons (ages 3-and-older); stroke school (ages 5-and-older, deep-water safe); Sea Dragon swim team (novice/competitive – ages 5-and-older); junior lifeguard camps (ages 7-to-14); parent and tot water classes (ages 3-to-36 months); and adults and masters swim programs. There are also water polo clinics and fall fun-nights for ages 7-to-15 and adult categories. SONOMA BOCCE BALL Association has started summer league play at the bocce courts south of the gazebo in Depot Park, with the nine-week league sessions ending on Wednesday, Nov. 2. New members are welcome and there are currently openings in the Saturday morning 9 a.m. league. VALLEY OF THE Moon Pétanque Club continues its monthly tournament and picnic events, and is currently offering free lessons in the sport at the Henri Maysonnave Memorial Courts in Sonoma’s Depot Park on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in joining the VOMPC, or for more details, can call 343-9465 or visit www.vompc.org.

 

FLOWERS GOLF RANGE of Sonoma continues three-day sessions of junior golf summer clinics and lessons for boys and girls ages 6-to-14-years-old, conducted by resident golf-pro John D.
