Volunteers sought to judge senior projects

Apr 18, 2011 - 06:37 PM

Volunteers are needed to judge senior projects at Sonoma Valley High School.

The judging will take place May 17, 18 and 19 at the high school. There are two sessions on May 17 and May 18, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. and one session on May 19, from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

Every senior must complete a project in order to graduate. Each has chosen a subject that interests him or her. Then they must write a research paper, create a poster, give 20 hours of volunteer time towards their project, work with a mentor along the way and finish up with a 20-minute oral presentation to a board of faculty and community members.

No experience is necessary to be a judge. There will be a faculty member at each session to give instruction in judging and the culinary students prepare food for the judges beforehand.

Many people sign up for more than one session. If you're available, call Holly Kyle at 938-5958 or email her at holly@sckyle.com and sign up.
