BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS of Sonoma Valley is hosting a free National Football League Punt, Pass & Kick competition for boys and girls ages 6-to-15-years-old starting at 1 p.m. tomorrow Saturday, Sept. 17, at the club’s Maxwell Farms Regional Park site. Only soft-sole gym shoes are allowed, with the top finisher in each of the boys’ and girls’ divisions in the five age-brackets advancing to the sectional round. BGCSV will also hold three basketball sign-up sessions for boys and girls in third-through-eighth grades from 10 to 11 a.m. this Saturday, Sept. 17, and from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the BGCSV Clubhouse in Maxwell Farms Regional Park, 100 Verano Ave. Cost is $60 for club members and $180 for non-members, which includes one-year of club membership, with a $10 late-registration fee. SONOMA’S ST. FRANCIS Solano’s CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) basketball program for third- through eighth-grade boys’ and girls’ teams is currently holding 2011-12 season registration for all returning and new players. Mandatory evaluation days slated for this Sunday, Sept. 18, and Sunday, Sept. 25 (one day required), with practices beginning Monday, Oct. 17, and games starting the weekend of Dec. 3.
