The Motown sounds of Pride & Joy will be rocking the Sonoma Barracks and La Casa Grande Courtyard the evening of Friday, Sept. 23, during opening night gala of the Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival's wine and food celebration of this year's "Call of the Vine."

The event is open to the public and offers attendees samples of Sonoma Valley's award-winning wines and epicurean delights. A silent auction will hold the promise of exciting prizes such as private tastings, spa stays and wine tours._

Tickets are $85 and are available on line at www.sonomavinfest.org or by calling 996-2109 and are also available at the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau.

Attendees must be 21 years or older.

A portion of the proceeds goes to the festival's beneficiaries, which include Sonoma Valley Education Foundation's School Garden Project and Native Sons of the Golden West-Parlor 111.

Opening night is the kick off to the full weekend of Vintage Festival activities on the Plaza that includes free music on two stages, featuring headliners Tommy Thomsen and Terri Odabi & Pure Soul along with plenty of support from the local music scene.

Other popular offerings are the water fight, parade, grape stomp, 5K Vintage Run and a full complement of wine tastings, arts and crafts and nonprofit vendor and information booths.

The amateur wine competition awards will be announced at opening night as well. For tickets or more information, visit www.sonomavinfest.org.
