Views expressed on Patten Street forum not those of city

Valley forum

Oct 3, 2011 - 02:51 PM

I would like the public to know that the "submitted" Valley Forum column published in the Index-Tribune Sept. 30 was not submitted by the City of Sonoma nor by the Sonoma Community Development Agency.

I am disappointed that the I-T did not attribute the article to the submitter. I don't know who submitted this information. The I-T's Op-ed and Valley Forum submission page states, "Your first and last name are required and will be published with this letter. All other information is required for authentication but will not be published."

The Sonoma Community Development Agency (CDA) has been drafting a press release for this workshop that will be out shortly. The CDA is sponsoring the workshop. I will be there to explain the purpose of the workshop and to allow the CDA's selected developer to conduct a community outreach/engagement and feedback discussion.  We look forward to more community input on 32 Patten St. Specifically for the workshop, we are creating a workbook of the history/evolution of 32 Patten St. following its use as a fire station and will include official actions and community outreach.

I would like the Sonoma Index-Tribune to print a retraction or correction of this Valley Forum piece, which is not a correct representation of the CDA.  Some of the information was from the letter sent to the residents by the CDA in the vicinity of 32 Patten St. and other information represents a particular viewpoint of the writer, which does not reflect the CDA nor the City of Sonoma.
