Valley Little League all-stars beginning D53 tourney play

 

Both the Sonoma Valley and Valley of the Moon Little Leagues have selected their all-star teams, who will begin Little League District 53 all-star tournament action this weekend, with all the tourney’s being held out of the Valley this postseason.

In tomorrow’s, Saturday, July 2, District 53 tournament openers, the Sonoma Valley 12-year-old all-stars play St. Helena in American Canyon, while the Valley of the Moon all-star 12s face Fairfield Pacific in Benicia.

Also playing opening-round tourney games on Saturday in Vallejo are the SVLL 11-year-old all-stars taking on host Vallejo, and the VOMLL all-star 11s battling East Vallejo, while Sonoma’s 9-to-10-year-old all-stars have a first-round bye and will play their tournament opener on Sunday, July 3, in American Canyon.

Comprising the 2011 Sonoma Valley Little League 12-year-old all-stars – directed by manager Curt Dunkle and coaches Mark Peterson and Stan Matulaitis – are Noah Cess, Conner Ebert, Japhy Koch, Mathew Matulaitis, Sean McElroy, Matthew McKale, Austin Natuzzi, Shane OÕMalley, Colton Petersen, Sean Sanders, Owen Summers and Max Yankovich.

The 2011 Sonoma Valley 11-year-old all-star team – directed by manager Dan Morgan II and coaches Mike Sangiacomo and Nick Hickman – consists of Eric Baily, Dylan Cavaz, Corbin Cook, Henry Darnell, Dustin Hellman, JC Hernandez, Toby Hillard, Tobias Israel, Colten Mertens, Kole Morgan, Joseph Sangiacomo and Sam Zyskowski.

Comprising the 2011 Sonoma Valley 9-and-10-year-old all-star team – directed by manager Craig Ray and coaches Jamie Natuzzi and Griff Lucia – are Jack Boydell, Maxx Castelucci, Nolan Dunkle, Nicholas George, Brendan Hogan, Will Larson, Wyatt Larson, Jeremy Mackling, Logan Mak, William Natuzzi, Riley Phelan, Wyatt Rowland and Angel Tapia.

The 2011 Valley of the Moon Little League 12-year-old all-stars – directed by manager Ron Lennon and coach Dave Anken – consist of Jesse Andrieux, Garret Anken, Michael Daly, Dominic Eliason, Liam Handron, Devin Lantz, William Lennon, Ryan O'Hara, Sean Prasad, Carson Schmick, Luke Severson and Ethan Vitale.

Comprising the 2011 Valley of the Moon 11-year-old all-stars – directed by manager Jason Sutter and coach Larry Arrington – are Ryan Angeloni, Austin Arrington, Quentin Cuellar, Sergio Garcia, Max Handron, Matt Hart, Alex Kirley, Samuel Little, Justin Ring, Asher Sutter, Samson Volker and Matt White.

During the recent regular season, the Mustangs claimed the Valley of the Moon crown, then fell in the Valley’s Little League Majors Division title game to the Sonoma Valley champion Angels, who won two games in the District 53 Tournament of Champions before being edged in the semifinals.
