Union Bank donates instruments

 

Union Bank, N.A. has made a $7,000 donation from the Union Bank Foundation to Sonoma Jazz Plus In-School Music Programming in the form of various new instruments from local retailer, Sonoma Valley Music.

At a special presentation at the May 21 concert at Sonoma Jazz Plus, Julius Robinson, Union Bank executive vice president and chairman and CEO of the Union Bank Foundation, presented instruments to five students from the Elementary Honor Band, who were recognized for their involvement in music programming in Sonoma area schools. Music coordinator for the Sonoma Valley Unified School District, Barbara McElroy, was also in attendance.

"We are pleased to provide these instruments, which will benefit students of every age studying music in Sonoma schools," said Robinson. "The need to support music programming has never been greater. As a founding sponsor, Union Bank has provided financial support to the Sonoma Jazz Plus Festival since it began seven years ago and with the bank's support, students like those in local Sonoma elementary school bands can take part in music education."

In addition to the foundation donation, Union Bank's Sonoma branch also collected donations in support of the Sonoma Jazz Plus In-School Music Programming with every dollar raised going directly to support music education in Sonoma.
