Tough season-opening road trip continues for Lady Dragon golfers
Cross country alum meet Wednesday; grid, girls tennis to start

Faced with a daunting four-match road trip to start the 2011 season, the Sonoma Valley High School golfing girls dropped their second-straight Sonoma County League decision last Thursday, falling 259-306 at the Healdsburg Golf Club.
Pacing the Lady Dragons were junior Jordann Dagner’s and sophomore Jacquie Peterson’s nine-hole rounds of 55 each, junior Allison Cogbill’s 64, senior Kamryn Barker’s 65, and senior Katie Durkan’s 67.
The Lady Dragon golfers play at SCL foes Windsor and Casa Grande (Petaluma) today and Thursday, Sept. 8, respectively, before hosting league rival Petaluma in their home opener on next Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Sonoma Golf Club.

Sonoma’s cross country boys’ and girls’ teams will hold their annual Cross Country Alumni Meet tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 5:30 p.m. on the Maxwell Farms Regional Park course.
All former cross country Dragons or Sonoma athletes, as well as any runner wanting to participate, are welcome and should arrive at the course at least 15 minutes before the race.

The Dragon varsity and junior varsity football teams kick-off their 2011 season by hosting nonleague Terra Linda at Arnold Field this Friday, Sept. 9, with the jayvees beginning at 5 and the varsity starting at 7:30 p.m.

Sonoma’s tennis girls start their season and SCL schedule at Petaluma this Thursday, Sept. 8, while the water polo boys’ and girls’ teams open their season facing Redwood Empire League rival Cardinal Newman in Santa Rosa on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
