Thumbs up for ladies tea

I would like to send out a big thank you to the women of Faith Lutheran Church who work tirelessly to put on the annual Ladies Tea, the most recent of which was held on May 21.

I have attended this wonderful event for at least five years with a group of seven friends, all from England. Over the years, we have enjoyed many teas at many fine establishments throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Still, each and every year, we proclaim the "Church Tea" the absolute best!

The Faith Lutheran ladies somehow transform an ordinary church hall into a lovely and well-appointed tea room. The tea sandwiches, desserts and other offerings are top-notch. My British friends, each of them very particular about their brew, also give the tea (which is served in lovely pots that are plentiful in supply) a big thumbs up. How the event organizers convince the church men to serve the repast is beyond me, but it is a fun touch that we all enjoy and, with one table per server, we never go wanting.

In case all of that is not enough, for the past two years an enjoyable fashion show has been thrown into the mix. Ladies, how do you do it?
