Thank you, stranger
Editor, Index-Tribune:
This is a holiday story. Last Sunday, after a hard day’s work, I picked up dinner at Amy’s Chinese Food Take-out place. When I got to the cashier, alas, they took no credit cards.
Before I had a chance to argue, the man behind me in line whipped a $20 bill out of his wallet and paid for our dinner. I was aghast at his kindness. After paying, the stranger gave me his card, and in my fatigue and rushed confusion I lost it.
I now have no way to repay this man’s kindness. I can only promise that because of his gift, offered without expecting anything in return, I will pass on his generosity to others.
I for one, will give away money this year, and will always remember the power of kindness. Thank you, stranger.
