Springs residents have right to a voice
Editor, Index-Tribune:
Thanks to Ken Brown for setting the record straight about what Ben Boyce actually said on his (Ken's) radio show and what was misquoted by Fred Peterson in a derogatory and misinformed letter to the I-T.
It's sloppy and lazy to quote someone out of context and it's a cheap shot to put words in someone else's mouth in trying to make a point. Mr. Peterson can say whatever he wants about an issue, but in doing so he is obligated to get the facts straight and not alter what someone has said in trying to make his argument.
Furthermore, as Brown pointed out, Sonoma commissions and committees currently include, and have historically included, people from the neighboring Springs who contribute mightily to the city's economy, pay a hospital parcel tax and support city service providers and nonprofits with their dollars.
We who live in the Springs, or the Valley at large, have every right to express our voices about civic matters and city council decisions that affect all the residents in this area. That's the way it is and that's the way it's going to be.
