Soroptimists to serve up hot chocolate

Nov 23, 2011 - 03:00 PM

The cool evening, the excitement of Santa’s arrival and the smell of hot chocolate always means just one thing: the Sonoma Valley Soroptimists are at it again.

Every year more than 400 free cups of hot chocolate are poured for children and their parents by Soroptimist International of Sonoma Valley as youngsters eagerly await the arrival of Old Saint Nick.

The pouring will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, on the Plaza (look for the Sonoma Valley Soroptimist sign).

Soroptimist is an international volunteer service organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. A nonprfit organization, Soroptimist relies on charitable contributions to fund its programs.

Soroptimists of Sonoma Valley have been serving and funding projects in the Valley since 1960. Meetings are held each Tuesday.

To attend a meeting, or for more information, contact Janice Lehne at 939-9383 or ess@vom.com.
