Sonomans 'Celebrate' at Infineon

May 2, 2011 - 05:28 PM

The third annual Celebrate Sonoma Day at Infineon Raceway is set for Saturday, June 4, and includes a full day of classic car race-watching, gourmet food and wine and an opportunity for all local residents to be treated as "VIPs" at their local raceway during the annual Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival.

Co-sponsored by Infineon Raceway, Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce, Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau and The Sonoma Index-Tribune and SONOMA website (sonomanews.com), the event gives Sonoma Valley an inexpensive opportunity to see more than 400 historic race cars and their drivers up close in the pits and roaring around the road course.

Sonoma Valley Businesses can purchase blocks of 15 tickets or more at $15 a ticket or 25 or more at $10 a ticket. Sonoma Valley residents will receive VIS (Very Important Sonoman) treatment and enjoy a day at "their" raceway. This special offer includes a credential and lanyard for Sonoma residents, an event souvenir program and a special Celebrate Sonoma Day gift bag for each guest. Businesses wishing to purchase less than the blocks above can take advantage of the Sonoma Valley resident half-price rate of $20. For tickets, call 800-870-RACE (7223).

Celebrate Sonoma Day race-day festivities will celebrate community leaders and Sonoma businesses, including those who have made outstanding sustainability efforts. This year, Sonoma Valley High School Senior and Sonoma's "Idol" Danny Wirick will perform the national anthem, and Troop 707 will present the nation's color.

Celebrate Sonoma Day is part of the SHOP SONOMA campaign with the goal of creating an event to recognize local employees, "drive" business morale and celebrate the spirit of the Sonoma Valley business community.
