Every game in the current Little League District 53 Majors Division Tournament of Champions provides a challenging scenario, and, after two rounds of area tourney action, the Sonoma Valley Little League champion Angels have been able to outlast a pair of quality opponents.

On the heels of posting an impressive 8-4 win over Vallejo’s No. 2 team in their TOC area tourney opener, the Sonoma Valley Angels battled a tough Benicia squad to a 4-4 six-inning second-round standoff Tuesday at SVLL’s Hughes Field.

Keeping the tie intact in the top of extra seventh-inning, the Angels broke through in the bottom of seventh to capture a thrilling 5-4 victory, which eliminated Benicia.

In yesterday’s TOC quarterfinals in Napa, the SV Angels faced a strong Napa American team, with the results not available at presstime.

Comprising the 2011 Sonoma Valley Majors Division champion Angels are Nathan Borg, Zachary Brennan, Henry Darnell, Will Larson, Wyatt Larson, Matthew Matulaitis, Shane O'Malley, Andy Purdom, Carson Snyder, Gannon Traynor, Noah Weston-Cess, Maxwell Yankovich, manager Kevin Cess and coaches Michael Yankovich and Dan Matulaitis.
