Sonoma Sol mens soccer hosting at SSU, Valley sports camps, clinics, lessons, programs continue

SONOMA COUNTY SOL semi-pro men’s soccer team, led by Sonoma Valley High School alumni and former prep and collegiate standouts Scott Preckwinkle (2004) and Chris Daly (2000), will host two 5 p.m. matches this weekend at Sonoma State University, playing the San Diego Flash tomorrow, Saturday, June 18, and facing the Bay Area Ambassadors on Sunday, June 19. THE ANNUAL FIGHTING Dragons Basketball Summer Camp for boys in third-through-eighth grades – under the direction of Sonoma Valley High School boys’ varsity hoops head coach Casey Rogina, and featuring guest instructors Tyler and Zach Tiedeman, who are former star prep players at Montgomery High School and college standouts playing professionally in Europe – will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting this Monday, June 20, and running through Friday, June 24, in SVHS’s Pfeiffer Gym. THE ANNUAL LADY Dragon girls’ summer basketball camp for ages 8 to 14 – under the direction of Sonoma Valley High School girls’ varsity hoops coach Sil Coccia – will hold its second session from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily at SVHS’s Pfeiffer Gym from Monday through Thursday, June 27 to 30. Camp costs are $125 a camper and $100 for two or more sisters – partial-attendance fee of $30 a day. Every camper will receive a T-shirt and a high-quality basketball, and there will be numerous prizes and awards distributed during the week. SONOMA VALLEY STACK Travel Baseball will hold late tryout sessions starting at 6 p.m. at Peterson Field (Field of Dreams) for players 13-to-14-years-old this Monday, June 20, and for all ages on Monday, June 27, with late registration taking place beginning at 5:30 p.m. both days. SONOMA VALLEY TENNIS Association, the Kiwanis Club of Sonoma and Rotary Club of Sonoma will sponsor the 12th annual Junior Tennis Free Summer Program for Valley youths ages 6-to-15-years-old at the Maxwell Farms Regional Park courts from 5 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday through July 26, with the first session now in progress. SONOMA AQUATIC CLUB (formerly Agua Caliente Aquatic Center) is holding registration for its summer swim programs for ages 3-months-old to adults at the SAC site, 17350 Vailetti Drive. The programs include swim lessons (ages 3-and-older); stroke school (ages 5-and-older, deep-water safe); Sea Dragon swim team (novice/competitive – ages 5-and-older); junior lifeguard camps (ages 7-to-14); water polo clinics (ages 7-to-14); parent and tot water classes (ages 3-to-36 months); and adults and masters swim programs. BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS of Sonoma Valley will hold a late junior coed basketball sign-up session for boys and girls in kindergarten, first and second grades from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at the Maxwell Clubhouse, Maxwell Farms Regional Park, 100 Verano Ave. Cost is $180, which includes $120 membership fee and $60 sports fee, with the league running from August through October. FLOWERS GOLF RANGE of Sonoma will hold three, three-day sessions of junior golf summer clinics and lessons for boys and girls ages 6-to-14-years-old who are new to the game, conducted by resident golf-pro John D. Moore – a PGA member for more than 27 years and former general manager and golf-pro at the Petaluma Golf and Country Club for 10 years – at the range, 18709 Arnold Drive. The first Thursday, Friday and Saturday session – noon to 1:30 p.m. for ages 6-to-10 and 2 to 3:30 p.m. for ages 10-to-14 – is July 7, 8 and 9, followed by sessons on July 21, 22 and 23, and Aug. 4, 5 and 6. THE ANNUAL LADY Dragons Summer Volleyball Camps for girls in fifth through ninth grades will take place Monday through Wednesday, July 25 to 27, at Sonoma Valley High School’s Pfeiffer Gym. For incoming girls’ fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grades, the three-day Dragonette fundamentals camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon, with the Dragon intermediate skills rookies camp for eighth- and ninth-graders running from 2 to 5 p.m. Both camps cost $80 a girl and include a camp T-shirt. SONOMA BOCCE BALL Association has started league play at the bocce courts south of the gazebo in Depot Park, with three nine-week sessions ending on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
