Sonoma Mountain Preservation
Editor, Index-Tribune:
It's a good bet that many of us either came here in the first place, or stay here, at least in part, because of the beauty of this place.
Last month, Sonoma Mountain Preservation helped the county take a big step toward maintaining the stunning rural character of this region.
The Board of Supervisors approved a new set of Design Guidelines for the Mayacamas that will help preserve the scenic vistas we all enjoy.
To get this measure passed, SMP worked with an independent land use consultant, Nancy Dakin and were pleased to pay for her services. She made the case to the supervisors in a dispassionate, logical manner, with all the necessary data and visuals. Without her work, we would likely not have the more comprehensive guidelines we do now. Of course, at the hearing, our members did add some passion, but the facts carried the day.
To cover the costs of this planning and legislative success, SMP is asking for public help. Donations are our only source of revenue; we stay lean, if not mean, and response to this special appeal will help replenish our small kitty.
Please make as a generous contribution as you can to Sonoma Mountain Preservation 5850 Grove St., Sonoma, CA 95476.
Thank you for your support.
