Last week at the Sonoma County Fair, the Sonoma FFA Chapter made a good showing during the hog judging with numerous students taking home ribbons.

The Sonoma group was named Best FFA Chapter. Toby Kiser took the highest honor of Grand Champion Hog (see the full article in last Tuesday's paper), as well as Breed Champion in the Crossbreed category. Haylee De Martini took Breed Champion in Berkshire; Henry Papadin was Breed Champion in Yorkshire; and Sabrina Domitri earned Reserve Breed Champion in Duroc.

"Our chapter ... had four of the six champions in the champion drive," said De Martini, an officer with the Sonoma FFA Chapter.

The fair, which is marking its 75th anniversary, continues at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds, 1350 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa, through Aug. 14, with more livestock judging still to come.

Any Sonoma Valley residents who earn ribbons for their participation at the fair are encouraged to send the details to Emily at emily@sonomanews.com.
