Sonoma Babe Ruth all-star teams begin D2 tourneys, Valley hosting all-star 15s, play tonight

After the rain-delayed Sonoma Valley Babe Ruth Baseball postseason playoffs ended with the Lions claiming the National League crown last Sunday, Sonoma’s three all-star teams are set to compete in this weekend’s Babe Ruth District 2 tournaments.
Sonoma is hosting the 15-year-old all-star tourney, which begins tonight at Arnold Field, with North Bay playing Novato at 4, and the Valley stars facing Ukiah at 7 p.m.
The 15s tournament continues with 1, 4 and 7 p.m. games tomorrow, Saturday, July 9, and the title game at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 10.
Also opening District 2 tourney play are Sonoma’s 14-year-old all-stars, who face Novato at Keiser Park in Windsor at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, July 9, when Sonoma’s all-star 13s begin with an 11 a.m. game against Ukiah at Sinaloa Middle School in Novato.
Comprising Sonoma’s 2011 15-year-old all-star team – directed by manager Joe Lunny and coaches Mario Alioto and Justin Weaver – are Vincent Albano, Andrew DeMartini, Jimmy Flatt, Miles Hagin, Cole Harper, Mitch Hood, Cordell Kenniston, Donnie Krause, John Murphy, Richard Nunez, Damian Sanchez, Max Schimm, Mike Stovall Garrett Walker and Robby Woodworth.
The Sonoma 2011 14-year-old all-star team – directed by manager Manny Alcantar and coaches Dean Bonfigli and Bennie Soto – consist of Jose Barios, Brett Bonfigli, Cole Cavalli, Ronnie Cotter, Magnus Forsythe, Devon Graff, Graham Herder, Shane Lounibos, Brendan Natuzzi, Zachary Parr, Lauren Simpson-Gomez, Jesse Summers, Zach Thompson, CJ Vitale and Ryan Wilbanks.
Comprising Sonoma’s 2011 13-year-old all-star team – directed by manager Kenny Amoroso and coach John Casey – consist of Christian Ballard, Travis Claeys, Thomas Crumley, Nicolas DeTorres, Tyler Dunlap, Dante Fernandez, Abel Fragosa, Kyle Garcia, Jack Greenberg, Alonso Jimenez, Spencer McNairy, MacLean Meyn, Logan Onstott, Gavin Orr and Tyler Ramsey.
