Snowmen light up the holiday season
THE SNOWMEN AT Cornerstone are a common sight from Highway 121 during the holiday season.
The holidays get off to a glowing start with the seventh annual Lighting of the Snowmen at Cornerstone Sonoma on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, but all carnival proceeds will benefit Pets Lifeline.
Guests will be the first to learn the results of the Snowman Contest to determine what silly action the snowmen will be doing this year, where more than 50 entries were received.
Live music by Robert and Amy Ethington in the snowflake-filled courtyard, a sholiday performance by the Sonoma Ballet Conservatory in the Pavilion, outdoor holiday films for kids and a visit by a “special mystery guest” are part of the festivities.
The Cornerstone shops will dazzle with holiday delights, Alsina Station Grill will greet the evening’s dinner guests with a complimentary glass of Argentinean mulled malbec and a family friendly barbecue will be offered in the front courtyard.
The carnival fundraiser festivities are specially designed to delight children and adults alike. Benefit tickets can be exchanged for activities and food throughout the Cornerstone complex. These will include popcorn balls, cotton candy, hot chocolate, face painting by Popo the Clown, a photo booth and a kids’ holiday craft table.
Carnival tickets can also be exchanged for unique grab-bag items at the Cornerstone shops, six different raffle entries with pick-your-own prizes, participation in a popcorn-ball snowman-making contest and for purchasing holiday gifts at the Pets Lifeline dog biscuit bake sale.
An exhilarating ride to and from the Plaza, free of charge, on the open-air purple bus shuttle will add to the excitement.
Pet adoption stations will be set up in three locations around the complex, so lucky animals can be given a “home for the holidays” on the spot. And a Pets Lifeline donation bin will be provided for guests to recycle pet supplies such as extra pet food, dog dishes, collars and towels for the shelter.
