Saturday Market to open at SCC
DURING LAST YEAR'S Sonoma Saturday Market at the Community Center, shoppers could find fresh produce, meats, prepared foods and artisan displays.
For the second summer, Sonoma Community Center will open its Sonoma Saturday Market series on June 11 at 9 a.m. The weekly farmers market will offer fresh produce from local farmers, fine art for sale, gourmet breakfast specials and new activities for all ages.
The market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays through Sept. 24.
This year's market will include a full array of food vendors featuring fresh produce, seasonal fruit, local cheese, fresh flowers and sustainably farmed meat. Returning vendors include Victorian Farmstead meats, the Epicurean Connection, The Hummus Guy and Flowers to You.
Affordable organic breakfasts will once again be sold in the Rotary Community Kitchen. This year, Maya Restaurant will return and rotate breakfast service with several new restaurants participating this year. The community center will also sell coffee to complement this service, so guests can enjoy coffee in the garden before shopping at the market.
This year, the center is expanding its focus on sustainability through education and on-site demonstrations with participating vendors. They will begin June 11 when Ditte Jensen presents a free demonstration of plein air watercolor painting at 11 a.m. in the Maloney Garden. Painters can enjoy a preview of her upcoming workshop "Watercolor: Left Brain, Right Brain," scheduled at the community center June 25 and 26.
The Sonoma community center is located at 276 E. Napa St.
