Sassarini fourth graders ‘hitchhiking’ to rail museum
Submitted photo
Sassarini School fourth-grade teachers, Maggie Pat and Curtis Duff, are making plans to take the entire fourth grade class to Sacramento to enrich the students’ learning of California history by showing them the California State Railroad Museum, which has a special section on the emigrant experience. Because the school cannot afford the $900 cost of the trip, teachers, parents and students have started a fundraising campaign. Their efforts will include car washes, bake sales, recycling and coin collections. The first car wash is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, from approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be held at the Sonoma Chevrolet dealership, 687 W. Napa St. Fourth grade Sassarini students are shown “hitch-hiking” for a ride to the museum in the spirit of “Sacramento Or Bust.”
