SRJC slates auditions
The Santa Rosa Junior College Theatre Arts Department will hold auditions for the 2011-12 season on Friday, Aug. 26, and Saturday, Aug. 27, for its productions of "Big Love" and "My Fair Lady." The auditions are open to any actor interested.
Interested individuals can audition on either Friday or Saturday evening, and should arrive at the SRJC Burbank Auditorium Lobby at 5:30 p.m. to complete the required paperwork. Audition slots will be assigned to participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Callbacks are scheduled Sunday, Aug. 28, at noon.
Individuals who audition should bring a headshot (or snapshot) and resume if available (although not required), as well as calendars, since the rehearsal time is extremely limited and only calendar conflicts presented at auditions will be accepted.
"Big Love" was written by Charles L. Mee and will be directed by Leslie McCauley. Those wishing to audition for this show should prepare a one-minute monologue, contemporary or classical, serious or comic.
"My Fair Lady" was written by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederick Loewe and will be directed by Laura Downing-Lee. Auditioners should prepare one full minute of a song from a musical, preferably from the standard Broadway musical repertoire of the '50s and '60s. Bring sheet music in your key and dress for a dance audition.
Burbank Auditorium is located on Burbank Circle just off of Mendocino Avenue on the Santa Rosa Junior College campus at 1501 Mendocino Ave. The closest on-campus parking is available in the multilevel Zumwalt Parking Pavilion at the corner of Mendocino and Pacific Avenues.
