Exactly two weeks to the day after she was declared missing, 16-year-old Glen Ellen resident Kasandra Poshepny has been found safe at a rustic camp in a rural corner of Santa Rosa near Pine Creek Reservoir.

“They found her, she’s ok,” said her sister Jess Poshepny, 26, who has spearheaded the effort to locate Kasandra since she was reported missing July 8. “I’m so glad it’s over.”

Jess Poshepny spoke to the Index-Tribune as she was traveling to Santa Rosa to see her sister.

Kasandra Poshepny was declared missing after she failed to return to her Glen Ellen home. Family and authorities discovered that she spent her first night missing at the rural Healdsburg residence of a cousin of her 19-year-old boyfriend, Robbie Huffman. But the couple disappeared the following day and not been seen since. The family anxiously searched for the missing girl during the past week, and were overjoyed when police discovered the teen in the rural Santa Rosa encampment south of the Sutter Medical Center complex on Chanate Road. Huffman’s parked truck was discovered not far away.

Huffman was arrested and taken into custody on unspecified charges shortly after Kasandra Poshepny was found.

Kansandra Poshepny will be a senior at Sonoma Valley High School in the fall.
