Mean 'Bit Pulls' at county fair

Aug 29, 2011 - 03:03 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Did you know that they are going to hold a public "Bit Pull" at the Sonoma County Fair?

This involves forcing a metal gizmo with leather straps attached into a horses mouth to make him go or stop.

They do this in the name of horse racing and it's just not nice! They could simply call to the horses from the other end of the track to get them to come. But no, they have to use the Bit Pull process.

And, they are not doing this on full-sized horses, they are using the small, 1/4th, or quarter-sized ones. It's really mean. Please inform your readers of this outrage!
