Mary's donates pizzas to Sonoma Valley schools

 

Sonoma-based Mary's Pizza Shack has started its annual distribution of 2,900 free pizza certificates to Sonoma schools.

Each year, Mary's Pizza Shack provides local schools with "Scholastic Achievement Certificates" to distribute to students based on their academic achievement or other standards as determined by the individual school. Students can redeem their certificate for a free, one-topping bambino pizza at any Mary's Pizza Shack location.

"My grandmother was a strong believer in supporting the community, and in the importance of education," said Vince Albano, CEO of Mary's Pizza Shack. "We started this program many years ago to honor that commitment, and we've distributed hundreds of thousands of these certificates over the past 20 years."

Fifty-thousand "Scholastic Achievement Certificates" are currently being hand-delivered to more than 130 elementary schools that are close to a Mary's Pizza Shack location, including nine schools in the Sonoma Valley area.

Students can earn a certificate through their scholastic achievement, as determined by the staff at their school.

Mary's Pizza Shack has a long record of supporting their community schools and nonprofits.

Mary's "Dine & Donate" program is a popular choice for organizations wishing to gather their supporters for a fun evening while raising funds. More than 400 Northern California organizations have participated in the program so far this year, receiving nearly $60,000 in contributions.

Mary's Pizza Shack also offers discounted pizzas to schools and teachers, whether they wish to host a pizza party for their class or have a pizza sale to raise funds.

Founded in Boyes Hot Springs in 1959 by Mary Fazio, Mary's Pizza Shack now has 18 locations in Northern California From the original "Shack" in Boyes Hot Springs, Mary's Pizza Shack has now grown to include locations in Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Solano, Contra Costa, Shasta and Placer counties.
