Magic of Christmas to aid hospital

Nov 3, 2011 - 03:25 PM

Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation’s Magic of Christmas returns for its 24th year on Sunday, Nov. 27, at the Lodge at Sonoma.

The festivities begin with the Christmas Wishes Children’s Party from 1 to 4 p.m. This beloved holiday tradition offers holiday activities for the whole family, including decorating gingerbread houses, a performance by the Keenan Irish Dancers, photos with Santa, live bagpipe music by John Noonan, face painting by Popo the Clown, a magic show by Roger Rhoten, balloon twisting by holiday elf Dyani Bachelder and more.

The price of admission is $30 for adults or $50 a couple, and free for children under 15.

This year, the magic continues into the evening with a Magical Moments cocktail party with wine, hors d’oeuvres and dancing from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Gene Russo will lead a dance lesson and there will be special appearances by some of the dancers from September’s “Dancing With Our Stars” fundraiser, including third-place winners Rhonda Guaraglia and Denny Lane. There will also be a dramatic reading of “The Night Before Christmas” by Butch Engle. Tickets are $30 each or $50 a couple.

Proceeds from both events will help Sonoma Valley Hospital purchase a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine. Sponsorships also help underwrite the cost of the event so more of the proceeds can directly benefit the hospital. The Marin-Sonoma IPA provided a $5,000 donation.

“We are honored to support our physicians, Sonoma Valley Hospital and the community of Sonoma by contributing to this wonderful event,” said Joel Criste, CEO of Marin-Sonoma IPA.

Both events will be held at The Lodge, 1325 Broadway.
