Lucille Marie Opatz

Lucille Marie Opatz, 91, passed peacefully in her home at 9:55 a.m., Jan. 14, 2011.

Lucille was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Elmdale, Minn., to Frank and Agnus Czech. An exceptional gardener, she loved people and was a faithful volunteer of the St. Francis' Church Mouse for 25 years. A devout Catholic and an outstanding light in the community, she touched the lives of many through her numerous social and volunteer efforts.

Although not Italian but Polish, she found incredible enjoyment from her dedicated involvement with the Italian Catholic Federation. Lucille is fondly remembered as the "hot dog lady" of St. Francis Solano School.

Lucille was the beloved mother of Janice Fallon and David Opatz; loving grandmother of Jason (Marsha) and Matthew (Mistia) Fallon, Andrew and Ryan (Miranda) Opatz; as well as the adoring great-grandmother of Seamus and Maya Fallon. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ted, of 60 years.

The Opatz family would like to extend much appreciation for the many friends and loved ones who have extended their presence and support over the past few weeks, especially Carmella Greco and Frank Fuller, who in addition to her daughter Janice, have lovingly assisted and avidly supported Lucille on a daily basis for many years.

Friends were invited to attend a rosary service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at Duggan's Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St. Sonoma, CA 95476.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at St. Francis Solano Church, 300 W. Napa St., Sonoma, CA 95476. Private Interment at St. Francis Solano Cemetery also located in Sonoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers for memorial donations in Lucille's honor be made to Hospice By The Bay, 190 W. Napa St. Sonoma, CA 95476, in gratitude for their loving support and assistance.
