Lois June Griffith

Lois June Griffith passed away peacefully at home January 3, 2011, with family and friends at her side.

She was born June 2, 1921, in Roseburg, Oregon, to Geary and Ura Rapp. She spent her younger years in Oregon, moving to Dunsmuir, California, before starting high school. She married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Vernon Griffith, on January 2, 1940. They had two sons, Lloyd George Griffith and Michael Allen Griffith. They lived for many years in the Bay Area and moved to Glen Ellen in 1976 to be closer to their grandchildren. Soon after moving to Glen Ellen, she became an active member of Sonoma United Methodist Church where she continued to worship until shortly before her death.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd (1994); her son, Michael (2010) and her brother and sister-in-law, Edwin (1994) and Freeda Rapp (2005).

She is survived by her son, Lloyd; daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandchildren, Lloyd Griffith II and Susie O'Connor; great-grandchildren, Nicole Griffith, Kyle Griffith, Elizabeth Thornborrow and Alex Thornborrow; great-great-grandsons, Eric Corona and Vincent Garcia; and many nieces and nephews in the Sacramento area. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Sonoma United Methodist Church, 109 Patten St., Sonoma.
