Latino parent forum Friday at El Verano
Apr 4, 2011 - 09:35 PM
The next educational forum for Latino parents is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, April 8, at El Verano Elementary School gymnasium.
Free child care and light refreshments will be provided.
The forum will focus on the relationship between psychology and sociology and why both disciplines are essential in promoting social and educational improvement and healthy community.
Joining Noris Binet, Nueva Vida's program director, will be clinical psychologist David Anglada-Figuero, director of Mental Health Services at the Santa Rosa Community Health Center. Anglada-Figuero's talk, in an interactive presentation, is entitled, "Ask a Psychologist" while Binet will address the topic, "What is Sociology."
The forums, presented in cooperation with the Sonoma Valley Unified School District, are aimed at providing support to teachers by educating parents to become emotionally healthier and by teaching skills to help them be more actively engaged with the education of their children.
All district-wide parents are welcome to attend any of the forums, which are simultaneously translated into English for non-Spanish speakers.
