Kudos for 'Odd Couple'

Aug 29, 2011 - 03:04 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Sonoma is an amazing place. It is chock full of folks with remarkable talents. We have opera and chorale, ensemble, chamber music, and the entire range of visual arts. And we have theatrical works that sail above any reasonable expectation for an area with the population of the Valley of the Moon. "The Odd Couple," presented at our own Community Center, is an example of that local brilliance.

The play, which runs through Sept. 11, is a masterpiece of comedy. The director and actors have perfected the timing, inflection, and interactions that turn funny into hilarious. The audience was laughing out loud throughout the fast-moving show.

Kudos to Sonoma Stage Works, director Roy Jimenez, all the actors, and thanks to Todd Evans, producer.

For those who haven't seen it yet, we encourage you to go. In this troubled world, we all need opportunities to escape and laugh out loud. "The Odd Couple" presents exactly that opportunity. The back of the program reads, in an ad, "Enjoy the play." We hope you will.
