John S. Harmon

John S. Harmon, 73, peacefully passed away on May 8, 2011, with his family by his side.

John was born in Seattle on Feb. 22, 1938, to Joe and Audrey Harmon. As a child his family moved to San Francisco where he attended Lincoln High School, San Francisco City College and The Academy of Art College.

He met and married his wife, Sheila, in San Francisco; they moved to Pacifica and later settled in Sonoma where they raised their family.

John worked and retired from Kilpatrick's bakery, where he was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a devoted 49er and San Francisco Giants fan.

John will always be appreciated for his quick wit, light hearted nature, sense of humor and positive outlook on life. He will be remembered as a man of great integrity and honored by all who knew him.

John will be forever cherished by his wife, Sheila; his children, Lisa (Tom), Sheila, Shawn, Nadine (Scott). He is loved by his grandchildren, Joshua, Lauren, Ian and Alexis; and greatly missed by his sisters, Sally and Tanya; and cousins, Susan and Ron. He will also be remembered by his five brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, seven nieces, 11 nephews, and many life long friends.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass and memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011, at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel at Hanna Boys Center, 17000 Arnold Drive, Sonoma CA 95676. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations in John's honor may be made to the Hanna Boys Center Scholarship Fund, 17000 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476; or to the Sonoma Charter School, 17202 Sonoma Highway, Sonoma, CA 95476.
