Joan E. Harris
Joan E. Harris, of Boyes Hot Springs, passed away on May 4, 2011, after a battle with cancer.
Joan was born in Camden, N.J., on Oct. 31, 1933. Joan graduated from West Chester State Teacher's College where she earned a teacher's credential. After graduation she moved to Sonoma.
Joan sold Amway products and taught elementary school for several years. Joan loved music and played piano throughout her life. She was active at St. Leo's Church and involved in annual charity events.
Joan was a generous and giving friend and companion to everyone she met in her life.
She was a devoted mother to her surviving son, Joseph Piver, of Santa Rosa. Joan is also survived by her sister, Patricia Baker, of Berkeley; her brother, Richard Lawless, of Collegeville, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, at Duggan's Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at St. Leo's Church, Agua Caliente Road, Sonoma.
A private interment at Valley Cemetery will follow.
Donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers are preferred.
