Jayvee, frosh Dragon soccer, volleyball squads into upbeat starts
Off to upbeat and promising starts to their 2011 fall seasons, Sonoma Valley High School’s junior varsity boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, and jayvee and freshman volleyball squads continue producing solid efforts as Sonoma County League play picks up steam.
The Sonoma jayvee boys’ soccer team, which currently has a 3-0 SCL record, is directed by head coach Tom Young and assistant coach Gaudencio Becerill, and consists of senior Isaac Garcia; juniors Danny Dwyer, Nawang Sherpa and Tashi Sherpa; sophomores Alejandro Echeverria, Anthony Echeverria, Miguel Guillen, Cesar Morales, Sachin Naidoo and Jay Swisher; and freshmen Erick Garcia, Jose Garcia, Haslieil Juarez, Nicholas Kopatschek, Andrew Lopez-Echeverria, Sam Sondheim and Alexis Zamudio.

Sonoma’s jayvee soccer girls’ team – directed by head coach Mike Verdu and assistant coach Brian Wirick – consists of seniors Anelyn Burquez and Denise Cavillo; juniors Selena Gutierrez, Angelica Pena and Suleika Perez-Usher; sophomores Madi Burningham, Katy Marioni and Olivia Tsegeletos; and freshmen Christen Silkey, Alejandra Alvarez, Raegen Hedley, Shelley Marmaduke, Emily Miller and Alex Quackenbush and Rian Verdu.

Comprising Sonoma’s jayvee girls’ volleyball team – directed by coaches and SVHS graduates and former Lady Dragon all-leaguers Rachael Wilson and Chelsea Scott – are sophomores Kaitlyn Boldt, Jazmin Chavez, Emma Handron, Chelsea Krause, Erica Larson, Kayten Mak, Gianna Montorosso, Lily Shipiro and Janeth Silva; and freshmen Hanna Herrick, Ella Mighell and Ciara Smith.

Sonoma’s freshman girls’ volleyball team – directed by head coach Lisa Gallagher and assistant coach Kyndra Menefee – consists of Laryssa Baker, Sierra Lilly, Anana Martinez, Cheyenne McCambridge, Gabby Reed, Hannah Powers, Anastasia Claros, Maddie Dougherty and Esmeralda Gonzalez.
