Insurance greed destroys hospitals

Nov 7, 2011 - 04:27 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

The article, “Insurance changes impact SVH patients” (Index-Tribune, Oct. 28), should have been titled, “UnitedHealthcare and other insurance carriers’ CEOs destroy Sonoma Hospital.” One-thousand-one-hundred-and-fourteen lives are shattered by a 35-minute-or-more wait to get emergency treatment. This will guarantee deaths and permanent injuries.

The only reason UnitedHealthcare deals with Sutter and other large hospital corporations is to make more profit for the health rip-off industry. This is happening in other rural areas of California. They are quite willing to destroy local health and hospitals for their greedy profit. Yes, the 99 percent must work for and demand universal health coverage for all. This would help Sonoma Valley Hospital, and thousands more across the nation, survive.

Call and write UnitedHealthcare and state and federal elected officials and demand the stop to this insanity. Give money and help defeat corporate lobbyists to Congress, and help America take care of the 99 percent.
