Infineon’s 2 weekends of NHRA action begins Friday with D7 drags
FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals at Valley raceway July 29-31
Infineon Raceway will host two weekends of NHRA action on its famed drag-strip beginning with Division 7 Drag Racing this Friday through Sunday, July 22 to 24, followed by the popular FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals July 29 through 31.

After hosting the 23rd edition of the NASCAR Toyota/Save Mart 350 event, Infineon Raceway will now welcome two weekends of National Hot Rod Association drag-racing, highlighted by the 24th annual FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals on Infineon’s famed drag-strip from Friday, July 29, through Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31.
Preceding the featured FRAM Autolite Nationals will be NHRA Division 7 – comprised of the western United States (Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah) – drag racing, presented by Korbel and starting this Friday, July 22, and running through Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24.
NHRA Lucas Oils Division 7 Drag Racing Series and the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Series provides the racing action, with competition being held in nine categories, including Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Sportsman Motorcycle, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.
Last year’s (2010) winners at Infineoninclude Jim Whitely (Grand Junction, Colo., Top Alcohol Dragster); Mark Woznichak (Ontario, Top Alcohol Funny Car); Greg Boutte (Stockton, Super Comp); Gary Geust (Rancho Cordova, Super Street); Glen Tredwell (Sorrento, Fla., Comp Eliminator); Mark Faul (Tacoma, Wash., Super Stock); Rusty Hall (Chandler, Ariz., Stock Eliminator); Randy Bowers (Riverside, Super Gas); Royce Freeman (Lindsay, Okla., Top Sportsman); Jim Butler (Prescott, Ariz., Top Dragster); and Rick Newport (West Valley, Utah, Sportsman Motorcycle).
Multi-time NHRA winners at Infineon Raceway include NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series driver Morgan Lucas with three Division 7 wins (TAD) in five years (2003, ’06-’07); Rick Santos (TAD, 1998-2000); Rick Braun (Comp, 1998-1999); Jimmy DeFrank (Super Stock, 2001, ’03, Super Comp ‘09); Greg Luneack (Super Stock, 2005, ’08); Steve Wann (Stock, 1997, 2003); Jody Lang (Stock Eliminator, 1998, 2008-2009); Ted Kellner (Super Street, 1999, 2007); and Scott Rollins (Super Street, 2004-2005).
Gates open at 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday and at 8 a.m. on Sunday. with qualifying and time trials slated for Friday and Saturday, with final eliminations beginning on Saturday afternoon and continuing on Sunday at 8 a.m.
The cost is $5 on Friday, $20 a day Saturday and Sunday and $45 for the weekend, with children 12-years-old-and-under, and parking, are free.

Friday, July 22: Qualifying and time trials, 8 a.m.; Top Dragster, Comp and Top Sportsman qualifying, noon and 4 p.m.
Saturday, July 23: Time trials and qualifying, 8 a.m.; Top Dragster, Comp and Top Sportsman qualifying, 11 a.m.; eliminations, 2 p.m.; Outlaw Pro Mod, noon and 4 p.m.
Sunday, July 24: Eliminations continue, 9 a.m.

Teaming up to offer unprecedented access for race fans during the FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals weekend, Infineon Raceway and Don Schumacher Racing have put a limited number of DSR hospitality packages on sale to the public for Friday, July 29. This exclusive hospitality area is located in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Pits between the U.S. Army/Matco Tools and FRAM/Aaron’s/Valvoline racing team transporters.
The DSR Fan Hospitality Package costs $125 and includes a seat in the Main Grandstand for the Friday (July 29) action; access to the DSR hospitality area in the afternoon; a chef-prepared meal, beverages and access to the all-day hot-dog machine; and appearances and autograph sessions with DSR drivers, including Antron Brown, Ron Capps, Johnny Gray, Matt Hagan, Spencer Massey, Jack Beckman and Tony Schumacher.
Fans can also watch the crews tune the racecars before and after each round of qualifying, and DSR drivers will make appearances throughout the day for question-and-answer sessions and signing autographs.

Infineon Raceway’s 2011 Big O Tires major events season will conclude with two top attractions – the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma taking place the weekend of Aug. 26 to 28; and the Classic Sports Racing Group Charity Challenge on Oct. 1 and 2.
