A PRO-LEVEL BASKETBALL fundraising game benefitting the Sonoma Valley High School boys’ basketball program, which was organized by Sal Chavez – a 2004 SVHS graduate and former Dragon all-league standout – will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday night, July 30, in SVHS’s Pfeiffer Gym and feature Chavez’s Pro-Am NorCal squad playing the Bay Area Matrix, a professional team and defending champion of the American Basketball Association’s California Division. The evening will also include a dunk contest, a three-point shooting competition, and an autograph and photo session. Tickets are $10 pre-sale, $15 at the door, and can be purchased at two Valley restaurants – the Shiso Sushi & Grill, 19161 Sonoma Highway, and Picazo Café & Deli, 19100 Arnold Drive.
THE SECOND ANNUAL Sonoma Valley Youth Summer Football Camp for ages 10-to-14-years-old – under the instruction of Sonoma Valley High School’s and the Sonoma Junior Dragons’ football staffs – will take place at the SVHS practice field from 5 to 7 p.m. this Tuesday, July 12, through Friday, July 15. THE ANNUAL LADY Dragons Summer Volleyball Camps for girls in fifth-through-ninth grades will take place Monday through Wednesday, July 25 to 27, at Sonoma Valley High School’s Pfeiffer Gym. For incoming girls’ fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grades, the three-day Dragonette fundamentals camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon, with the Dragon intermediate skills rookies camp for eighth- and ninth-graders running from 2 to 5 p.m. Both camps cost $80 a girl and includes a camp T-shirt. Recommended early registration by July 11, will be discounted $10 discounts. NAPA-TO-SONOMA Wine Country Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, July 17, and though it has been sold out for months Destination Races has added a “GunBunFunRun” 5K race, which starts at 8:15 a.m. at Gundlach Bundschu Winery and finishes in the Plaza to coincide with the half-marathon finish.
