The swinging sounds of Pink Martini will light up the Grace Pavilion at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 19, and five lucky fans of the Index-Tribune’s Facebook page can score a pair tickets to get in on the action.

Winning tickets is a breeze, here’s how to play. First, make sure you’re a fan of the I-T on Facebook (only fans are eligible to win).  When we post the story or ad for this contest on our page, simply click the “share” button above the post so it appears on your page and you’ll be entered to win. Make sure you share directly from our page otherwise we won’t have your name in our records. Five winners will be announced on Facebook on Friday, Nov. 11, who will each receive two tickets for this night of musical delights.

Pink Martini is comprised of a 12-piece ensemble whose music is cosmopolitan, contagious and often difficult to categorize. The group suggests its style lies somewhere between 1930s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber music ensemble, a Brazilian marching street band and Japanese film noir. Founding member and bandleader Thomas Lauderdale considers Pink Martini “musical archaeologists bringing melodies and rhythms from different parts of the world to create something that is modern.” He added that the multitalented and multilingual band offers “an urban musical travelogue … demonstrating that Americans are indeed serious about engaging in a dialogue with the rest of the world.”

In the absence of the band’s regular singer China Forbes, who is currently recovering from throat surgery, Pink Martini and band leader/pianist Thomas Lauderdale will feature world renowned guest singer Storm Large. “With the sexiness of a lounge singer and the pipes of someone who wouldn’t be out of place at the Met, Large is the perfect leader-cum-pinup girl for Pink Martini,” wrote the Cape Cod Times.

So be sure to check the I-T’s Facebook page for your chance to win.
