Huffman requests bail reduction

Jul 27, 2011 - 01:51 PM

Robbie Ray Huffman, 19, continues to sit in custody at the Sonoma County Jail while the courts wait to receive a report on the case from the probation department. After a brief appearance in court Wednesday morning, his next court date is scheduled for Friday, July 29, when a judge will consider his request for a bail reduction.

The Sonoma County Sheriffs Office previously told the Index-Tribune bail was set at $25,000, but a spokeswoman for the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office said bail was set at $5,000.

Huffman disappeared with his 16-year-old girlfriend, who is a resident of Glen Ellen, on July 9. After an exhaustive search by her family, the couple was discovered at a campsite near Pine Creek Reservoir in Santa Rosa on July 23. Huffman was arrested for unlawful intercourse with a minor, willful cruelty to a child and contributing to the delinquency of a child. The girl was returned to her family.
