Hollister’s work on display

Dec 5, 2011 - 03:47 PM

Jazz, dragons, wine and bowls of black ink, influenced the art in Ann Hollister’s current show in Sonoma. There will be a reception to welcome her new exhibition at Charles Creek Tasting Room and Gallery on Friday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The study of dragonology enhanced her artistic flair. And, splashing about to jazz with a big brush full of sumi may have scared her cat, but made for some interesting marks on paper.

Hollister taught calligraphy in San Francisco, Oakland and Kealakakua and Honolulu, Hawaii.  She partnered with Terry Englehart in the Pengraphics Studio of Calligraphy and Graphic Design in Oakland for six years.

Her work has been shown in California, Hawaii and Germany. She now lives in Sonoma with her feline assistant, Isabelle.

There is no cost to attend the reception. Wine and refreshments will be served.

The Charles Creek Tasting Room and Gallery, at 483 First St. W. on the Plaza, will host her work until Feb. 1 and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
