Holiday workshop for children

Nov 10, 2011 - 03:42 PM

California State Parks in cooperation with the Sonoma-Petaluma State Historic Parks Association presents the 22nd annual Victorian Christmas Crafts Workshop.

All ages are invited to Sonoma State Historic Park – Gen. Vallejo’s Home at Third Street West and West Spain Street on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to create holiday ornaments and crafts.

The event occurs rain or shine. This is held outdoors, please dress for the weather.

The Victorian Christmas Crafts Workshop offers children a creative and educational hands-on experience to be shared with parents and adults. Finished crafts are perfect for small, exclusive gifts and handmade tree ornaments.

Attendees can also enjoy complimentary refreshments, live music, a tour of Gen. Vallejo’s estate, and help welcome a special visitor from the North Pole. The Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club will provide homemade cookies for the event.

The workshop is dedicated to the memory of Kay Archibald who for more than 10 years, served tirelessly as the event’s devoted volunteer chair.

Those interested in helping out as a volunteer should call event chair Linda Davis at 833-6896 or contact Sonoma State Historic Park volunteer coordinator Jennifer Hanson at 939-2149 or jhanson@parks.ca.gov.

Admission is $3 for adults, with children permitted for free. To defray the cost of supplies, the ornaments and crafts will cost 25 cents to $1 each.

California State Parks supports equal access. Prior to arrival, visitors who need assistance should contact Sonoma State Historic Park Guide Jim Danaher at 939-9559.
