LA LUZ BOARDMEMBERS Marcelo Defreitas and Martha Rosenblatt get in the cowboy spirit for the La Luz Hoedown on May 14.

You don't need a horse or even a partner. You don't even need to know how to dance to enjoy La Luz Center's Hoedown party to be held at Booker Hall on Saturday, May 14.

Brought back by popular demand, this event offers a chance to bring out the "inner cowboy," so buff up those boots, grab a bandana and plan to be there for a night of fiddle music and square dancing.

The party includes a barbecue dinner of ribs and chicken by Ramon Contreras, beer, wine and margaritas.

The hoedown takes place at La Luz Center's Booker Hall, 17560 Greger St., Sonoma. Margaritas start at 6 p.m., barbecue at 7 p.m. and dancing continues all night.

The cost is $100 a person.

La Luz is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that Sonoma Valley's more challenged populations have the opportunity to become productive citizens and make positive contributions to the economic, cultural and social well-being of the community. Its mission is to empower through education, leadership and self-advocacy.

Call Brenda at La Luz to reserve your space for the hoedown as space is limited, 938-5131, ext. 105.
