Helen Thompson

Helen Thompson, 96, passed away peacefully in Sonoma on Jan. 15, 2011 after a long illness.

Helen was born in Hazel Green, Wisc., on Feb. 5, 1914, and spent her formative years working hard on the family farm. When Helen was 19, she moved to Philadelphia where she enjoyed herself for many years before enlisting in the Army. Helen was a veteran of World War II and was proud of her service to her country. Helen enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, spending time with her pets and was an avid sports enthusiast. Her favorite team was the New York Yankees. Helen retired from a career in banking and spent the later part of her years traveling and enjoying her grandchildren. Helen was a resident of Marin County for 64 years and loved going to church at St. Anselm's in San Anselmo.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy R. Celeino and Patricia A. Thomas (Jesse); and grandchildren, Che Thomas (Caroline), Mariah Hansen (Tor), Coleena Thomas, Lisa Walsh and great-grandson Ripley Jesse Hansen.
