Gertrude Prigmore

Gertrude Josephine Scheppelmann Prigmore, 94, of Glen Ellen, passed away on June 8, 2011, with family members by her side.

Born on Jan. 16, 1917, in San Francisco, she was the daughter of Teresa and Herman Scheppelmann. She loved to tell stories about her happy memories of growing up with her four siblings, Dorothy, Hermina, Bud and Karl, and of special outings with the entire family.

In 1936, Gertrude married and became the loving and devoted wife of the late Joseph Bernard Prigmore. Her life's passions were her family, her garden and giving love and support to those around her.

Mother of Joseph William Prigmore and the late Karen Grace Prigmore Gariepy, she devoted herself to her children. Grandmother of Talia Renee Prigmore and Briana Teresa Gariepy Deguara, her granddaughters meant the world to her. Her great grandson, Zackery Deguara, gave her many hours of joy and laughter.

Gertrude worked in several San Francisco delicatessens during her school years, then in the office at the "phone company." Following that, she worked for many years and retired from the main kitchen of the Millbrae School District.

Gertie and Joe moved from Millbrae to Glen Ellen in 1978, where they built their retirement home. She was a gourmet cook and baker and enjoyed making delicious meals for many gatherings of friends and family. She was an avid league bowler and gardener. She spent many hours in her yard, which rivaled any garden for many miles. Her roses were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her son, Joseph William Prigmore and his wife, Karla Kelly, of Danville; granddaughter, Talia Renee Prigmore, of Marin; granddaughter, Briana Teresa Gariepy Deguara, her husband, Michael and son Zackery, of Petaluma; brother, Herman (Bud) Scheppelmann, of Grey Eagle; and sister-in-law, Nancy Scheppelmann, of Petaluma; along with many dear nephews and nieces. Mom, Grammy, Gertrude, Gertie, Trudy will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be welcomed. A memorial will be held at a future date.
