GayDar - a nightclub on the move

As I wake up on a cold, crisp Sunday morning … was I dreaming or was it reality!?
 

There I was at Lokal, enjoying a delicious Eastern European dinner of schnitzel and sausage with a bunch of boyz when all of a sudden the restaurant turned into a gay nightclub. My table was pulled away from me leaving room for a dance floor, Donna Summer was singing “Macarthur Park” on the stereo and “Hello Dolly” with my Babs was playing on the wall. By the way, when I refer to my Babs, I am referring to none other than my fascination with Barbra Streisand, (just for future reference). The disco ball was spinning and the room began to fill up with gay men and women.
 

This was not a dream, it was Sonoma GayDar. GayDar? GayDar is our local group of fellow LGBT Sonomen and Women that gather monthly to mix and mingle in a social atmosphere. Being that we don’t have any gay bars in Sonoma, friends and I decided to create this group so that we could bring our community together while supporting local establishments. The group has turned out to be wildly popular and has given everyone a sense of community. Our Facebook page has over 400 fans and has become a resource for people to get information on what’s happening in Wine Country. We look forward to each month’s gathering and having the opportunity to catch up, meet new friends and network with each other. Just so you know, Sonoma GayDar is open to all.
 

I’m so glad it wasn’t a dream. I like my reality.
