Free olive workshop set
Olives in all their aspects will be discussed on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cline Cellars, 24737 Arnold Drive.
Don “The Olive Guy” Landis will lead the free workshop in honor of the annual Season of the Olive. Landis will talk about the history of the olive, and specifically its history in California. He will then give a thorough description of how to make the olive edible without lye.
He'll cover the many varieties of olives, when to pick and three ways to de-bitter the olive. The Greek style brine cure, water cure and dry salt cure. Other important tips will be discussed. The lecture is followed by a tasting of olives with cheese and crackers. Attendees can also explore the Cline Cellars property including the Museum of the California Missions.
